features Center for Counterfeit Avoidance

Members of the ECC Corporation created this forum for industry professionals, business leaders and concerned citizens to share ideas and best practices to address the growing epidemic of counterfeit electronic components.

About Us

The USNC/IECQ represents the United States Electronic Component Industry in the International Electrotechnical Commission Quality and Reliability Conformity Assessment System.  (IEC IECQ)

As a nonprofit organization we are uniquely positioned in the American National Standard Institute (ANSI) under the US National Committee (USNC), to serve the electrical, electronic and electromagnetic component quality and reliability assessment needs of all US Industries worldwide.

To specifically address the US Counterfeit Epidemic the USNC/IECQ is bringing together a diverse group of US independent distributors, brokers, functional testing and chemical analysis laboratories.  The Subject Matter Experts in the USNC/IECQ Distributor Advisory Group (DAG) will participate in the development of the International Conformity Assessment Rules of Procedures, the International Training requirements and the International Certification Body Recognition/Accreditation Rules.

At the national level, DAG Members are providing the technical input for the development and implementation of a Suspect/Counterfeit Component Repository Management System, which will be administered by the Counterfeit Avoidance Mark Alliance.  The Counterfeit Avoidance Mark Alliance is a wholly owned subsidiary of the ECC Corporation, the nonprofit association that serves as the Secretariat for the USNC/IECQ.

On behalf of US Industry, the USNC/IECQ works with its international peers to create conformity assessment programs based on established national and international standards and industry specifications thus assuring worldwide acceptance.  This international approach is designed to eliminate trade barriers and provide a consistent certification approach. We are one of sixteen country member bodies* in the IEC IECQ System that develop and implement these conformity assessment programs. Once a conformity assessment program is implemented the IEC IECQ oversees the recognition/accreditation of the fifty nine Independent Certification Bodies that carry out the company registration and surveillance assessments and three International Training Organizations
